Rodrigo is a second-year Mechanical Engineering student from Mexico. Born in Monterrey and raised in Puebla. After high school, he decided he wanted to stay in the U.S. to attend college, and he found the University of Utah. He has been a research assistant since March 2026. During his first semester, he was a Biomedical Engineering student, but he ended up switching to Mechanical Engineering because of the emphasis he wanted to pursue in robotics, although he is still planning to minor in Biomedical Engineering.
Rodrigo works on shape modeling and segmentation of bones such as the sacrum and the L5 vertebra using MRI-based synthetic computed tomography.
