University of Utah Health’s Hand team believes in the power of research to redefine the standard of care, and collectively strives to explore innovative, novel solutions to clinical challenges. 

They collaborate with a wide variety of clinical entities, including the VA, Primary Children’s Hospital, and Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, and manage a variety of research grants from funders including the Department of Defense.

Best Outcomes

The Hand team functions under the leadership of Douglas T. Hutchinson, MD; Angela A. Wang, MD, Don Coleman, MD, Andrew Tyser, MD, Nikolas H. Kazmers, MD, Brittany Garcia, MD and Brian Foster, MD. The team’s research focus includes congenital hand deformities and upper extremity surgeries, developing neuroprosthetics for use in upper extremity amputees, and determining surgeries and procedures that lead to the best possible patient outcomes.
